Give a Personal Touch!

When we think of social media we think of Facebook, twitter, and instagram etc.

Three major sites used for connecting users with one another. We think of making new friends, keeping up with old friends and establishing new relationships. We are able to do so by sharing pictures, experiences, and memories portraying the good and bad times in life. So why can’t a business do the same?

Businesses are businesses and we go to them to do business. If a business could create an image (a well-known brand name with an image or lifestyle that is relatable to consumers) maybe they could get a larger following or a more consistent following. Whether we try to or not, humans are always looking for relations and or a more personal experience. Businesses are able to reach out in a more personal feeling or behind the scene/ exclusive manner using social media accounts. I like to look into businesses presence online before I choose to buy from them. Customers’ reviews, company responses on product reviews, and general customer service. A good brand will stand behind products and know them inside and out, any company not willing to acknowledge any            problems is a company to stay away from. People are looking for a company they can trust. A company that is active online and simulates one of our friends keeping us up to date and being on our sites that we use to keep up with friends and family.

With all of that being said there is a fine line between being a good social media presence and just filling up news feeds with annoying material that consumers don’t want. We spoke about this issue in class; Social Media is a place for “people” to connect. “People” don’t go on Facebook for promotions and hot deals so companies need to stay out of news feeds pushing products and just focus on that brand image and creating a personality.  It is important to think about how to create a consistent stream of media and photos all with a similar style of editing or theme to really solidify consumers’ views on what the company is about.
